Cuba is facing a food crisis and United Servants Abroad is assisting churches and helping them to co-op with local farmers. On behalf of the churches we are supplying the farmer with farm equipment and supplies. In return the farmer is supplying the church with food produced at the farm and cash from the sale of products. With the cash, the churches are purchasing additional food and supplies for the needy and elderly.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other vegetables are grown in the greenhouse. Here, the plants are protected from pests, diseases and heavy tropical rain.
United Servants Abroad has provided five greenhouses (high-tunnels) complete with irrigation pumps and distribution systems for each greenhouse.
Volunteers are needed
Come and volunteer to work along side of church members. There are many tasks that need to be completed regardless of the season. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many new things are happening at the farms. Fruit trees are being planted, a fish pond is being constructed. A pig facilty will soon house 150 pigs.
